Joël Marier

Joël brings to EBI Group more than thirty years of senior executive management experience in the youth tourism and social enterprise​ sectors. His background covers a wide range of situations from local tourism development projects to provincial and national marketing programs and activities as well as leading international networks and projects. Until 2015, he was the National Executive Director for Hostelling International Canada, a position he held for more than twelve years. His vision and consensus-building approach facilitated the development of national and international partnerships. As a mentor for the Canadian Society of Association Executives, he brings decades of not-for-profit management and governance expertise to the table. As well, being a mentor and Chartered Administrator for the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec, Joël has developed a recognized capacity for strategic planning and team-building for organizations of all sizes.

At the international level, Joël sits as an expert on the following ISO committees: TC228 on (Tourism and related services), TC262 on Risk Management including the development of ISO31030 on Travel Risk Management – Guidance for Organizations as well as ISO/COPOLCO (Consumer Policies). He also sits as an expert on the Travel Safety Panel of the World Youth & Student Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation.

Since 2014, as an entrepreneur and co-owner, Joël has redeveloped a small tourism business in Niagara Falls, Canada, and has been active with local communities to promote sustainable tourism strategies.
